Cianalas is a visual journey exploring the landscape and the connection between my childhood in the North of Scotland, and my parents' and grandparents' roots in the West of Scotland.

A deep seated sense of belonging to the place where your roots lie. Normally attributed to the Outer Hebrides. There is no sadness or melancholy in cianalas, only the realisation of what is truly important in life.

Cianalas - (genitive singular cianalais) homesickness, longing, nostalgia
